Closure & Timeline

Until when is the last day of care?

Friday, 28 August 2026, is the last day of care.
On Monday, 31 August 2026, no care will take place at SPACEYS.

What happens on 31 August?

On Monday, 31 August 2026, the kindergarten is closed. No care will be provided.

What about the children currently in the settling-in period?

Unfortunately, the planned settling-in periods starting in August or September cannot take place. Together with the district’s Kita coordination we will support the families in finding alternative places.

New Care Places

Who is taking care of finding new kindergarten places?

We have already informed the Senate Administration and the Kita coordination of the Pankow district and requested support. In parallel we are checking whether a joint transfer of parts of the team to another facility is possible.

Can the children preferably move together?

This is our explicit wish. We are working on placing as many children as possible together in one or a few facilities.

By when do we need a new place?

Ideally by 1 September 2026. The Kita coordination and we will support you in the search. Please bring your questions and wishes to the parents’ evening.

Team & Caregivers

Will the educators move with us?

The team would very much like to move together as a whole to a new facility. If a joint transfer is not possible, the staff members will look for new positions independently.

Who will look after the children in the final days?

The familiar team will be there for your children until and including 28 August 2026.

Practical Matters

What happens to the children’s personal belongings?

Please take all personal items such as spare clothes, cuddly toys and portfolios home by 28 August 2026. On the last day we will gladly help you pack.

What should we do about standing orders?

Please cancel existing standing orders immediately.
New incoming payments may be frozen due to the current account situation. A refund can then not be guaranteed.

Kita Vouchers

When will the Kita Vouchers be able to register again?

Today, on August 18, 2026, all vouchers were deregistered effective August 31, 2026. The new daycare center (Kita) can re-register them 24 hours later, starting September 1, 2026.

Possible transfer kindergartens

We have already spoken with the following kindergartens. In many cases, entire groups could move together, and the team might even be integrated (optional).
